Some countries have stated that they are negotiating with the allies to send warships to the Black Sea to protect cargo ships carrying Ukrainian grain.

This was told to Channel 24 by the captain of the first rank of the reserve, an expert at the Center for Defense Strategies Andrei Ryzhenko.

Some experts say that the ideal option would be if Turkey agrees to escort cargo with its warships, creating a “green corridor”. However, Ryzhenko noted that earlier there was such an attempt by Turkey to carry out such an evacuation from Mariupol, but they failed to do so.

I think that Turkey is a very serious player in the Black Sea. I think we need to ask this country for help. Definitely, they should participate in this process – both diplomatically and militarily, – the captain believes.

Recall that earlier the media reported that the UK was negotiating with the allies to send warships to the Black Sea to break through the Russian blockade and protection of cargo ships carrying grain from Ukraine through the Bosphorus.

However, on May 24, a spokesman for the UK government told The Guardian that the country's authorities are not yet considering such a possibility. Ryzhenko also believes that this is unlikely.

What is the current situation in the Black Sea

  • On March 19, Andrey Klimenko, editor-in-chief of BlackSeaNews, said that Russia was replacing the recommended routes in the Black Sea for civilian ships from the Bosphorus to Odessa and blamed Ukraine for this.
  • Due to the Russian blockade of ports in the Black Sea, grain exports from Ukraine have been stopped, which threatens millions of people in the world with hunger.
  • The European Commission offered to help Ukraine export wheat and other food raw materials by rail, road and river transport in order to bypass the Russian blockade of the Black Sea ports.

Attention! Earlier, British intelligence reported that the consequences Russian aggression against Ukraine has already been felt by people far beyond the borders of our country. However, if the blockade of the Black Sea continues, price increases cannot be avoided.
