The office of the Prosecutor General launched an investigation due to an accident with a fuel tanker
The agency noted that the investigation found out that on the evening of May 3, on the Kyiv-Chop road near the village of Sitnoye, Dubno district, Rivne region, moving in the direction Lviv driver of the car “Mercedes-Benz Vito” collided during overtaking. with a truck with a fuel tank.
From the impact, the fuel truck flew into the oncoming lane, where it collided with a SETRA bus, which was transporting passengers on the Kharkiv – Zgorzelec (Poland) route. After that, the truck with fuel drove into a ditch and exploded.
As a result of a traffic accident, 26 people died, including 24 passengers and two drivers – a Vito minibus and a SETRA bus. Another 11 bus passengers and the fuel truck driver are in the hospital with injuries of varying degrees. Among the victims are two minors. All road accident participants from Zhytomyr, Kyiv, Chernihiv, Kharkiv and Khmelnytsky regions.
Currently, the necessary investigative actions are being carried out at the scene, the procedure for identifying the bodies of the dead is underway, 29 examinations have already been scheduled, the Office of the Prosecutor General noted.
The main thing about the fatal accident with a fuel tanker

- The fire caused by the accident was extinguished by 44 rescuers and 7 pieces of equipment.
- Seven ambulances also left for the accident site. They delivered the victims to medical facilities in Dubno and Radivilov.
- At first, 17 victims of the accident were reported, but on May 4, the number of victims increased.
- Due to the scale of the fire, the road was completely blocked as a result of the accident ” Kyiv – Chop”.
Zelensky responded to the fatal road accident
President Volodymyr Zelensky, in his address on May 3, expressed condolences to the families and friends of the victims. The head of state instructed to provide all necessary assistance and support to the victims. He added that the number of victims of a terrible accident could increase.
