Reznikov spoke about new weapons and Ukraine's victories in the world/Ukrayinska Pravda
Alexei Reznikov said that our defenders and defenders, the entire Ukrainian people, repulsed the enemy. The Russian troops suffered huge losses and failed to achieve a single strategic goal.
The invaders fled from the Zhytomyr, Kiev, Chernihiv, Sumy regions and set new goals for themselves – the capture of the South and East of Ukraine, but this was not happened.
Thanks to the mass heroism of our soldiers, the solidarity of Ukrainians, and international support, Ukraine survived. The defenders of Mariupol bought us time and saved many lives. – said the Minister of Defense.
According to him, the Defense Forces in the zone of the JFO, as well as Kharkiv, Zaporozhye, Kherson, Mykolaiv regions, held back the invasion of the enemy.
Izyum, Popasna, Rubizhne, Avdiivka, Maryinka and not only are real cities and places military glory of Ukrainians. At the same time, the resistance movement in Melitopol, Kherson and other settlements is an important contribution to the overall victory.
“Against this background, we are entering a new – long-term – phase of the war. To win it, you need to carefully plan resources, avoid mistakes, design our strength so that the enemy, in the end, could not stand it,” Alexey Reznikov emphasized.
Work in the international arena
At all levels, work was carried out to change the philosophy of support for Ukraine from Western partners.
Every day during while communicating with the defense ministers of the partner countries, I had to systematically explain that Ukraine needed heavy Western weapons:
- aviation;
- artillery;
- tanks;< /li>
- Armored vehicles.
The main argument was that Ukraine protects the whole of Europe, and strengthening our defense is strengthening the eastern flank of NATO. Therefore, ensuring the actual interoperability of the armies of the Alliance with the Ukrainian defense forces is in the common interest, – said the head of the Ministry of Defense.
He stressed that in the end there was a tectonic shift. A month later, Ukraine passed the integration path in the field of defense, which it could not overcome for 30 years.
We are already receiving weapons from partners. In particular, American M777 howitzers of 155 mm caliber are already working at the front. Three months ago, this was considered impossible.
“This fully meets our aspirations, because our goal is to restore sovereignty and territorial integrity within internationally recognized borders,” the minister added.
What's happening in the defense sector
Alexey Reznikov said that the escalation provoked an explosive growth in defense needs. However, thanks to the preparatory measures and the mobilization of the Ukrainian people, the actions of the authorities, who retained control over the country, the defense was organized. . Deployment of the state mechanism is a lot of formalities even in the conditions of war. And not only in warring Ukraine,” the official explained.
As a result, processes were launched that will ensure the build-up of the defense potential of Ukraine.
The minister noted: “If we count from February 24, then at the end of April, the Ministry of Defense provided 50% of the total number of bulletproof vests provided to the defense forces, and the rest 50% are various forms of charitable assistance, this is the merit of citizens, volunteers, public organizations.”
As of May 13, this ratio has already amounted to 57% to 43%.
Stimulation of Ukrainian manufacturers
The government has determined that Ukraine is focusing on stimulating our producers. They are already loaded with orders until the end of the year, and there is a clear delivery schedule.
We are also actively seeking international technical assistance. Now we are already talking with partners not only about imports, but about repairing our equipment, building joint production chains. Oleksiy Reznikov informed.
“We are investing in modern Ukrainian weapons. We are restructuring all processes in order to increase our capabilities. Our priority is to ensure the stability and rhythm of deliveries, despite all opposition to the enemy,” continued the Minister of Defense .
Now Ukraine holds the bar so that every day there are armor protection equipment for at least 2 brigades in reserve. And this volume will grow.
To sum up, there is a strategic break. This process will take some time. In the long run, these trends make Russia's defeat inevitable.
