One of the published videos mentions that the A-50U fell in Labor Armenia, in another – behind the Sweet Liman. Both settlements are located in the Krasnodar region, 230 kilometers from the territory of Ukraine.

This was an impudent approach of strategic aviation to the borders of Ukraine. The occupiers tried to “test” whether radar stations could check where the Patriot systems that destroy Russian aircraft are located.

It is likely that this aviation group carried out a reconnaissance maneuver by the Russians on February 22 using the destroyed A-50U, who were trying to see where exactly the Ukrainian detection systems were activated.

The A-50 aircraft is a long-range radar tracking aircraft. It is designed to monitor targets in the air, on land and at sea, as well as to guide fighter aircraft towards them. There were only 9 such aircraft in the Russian Aerospace Forces – already 7. One such aircraft serves 19 people: 5 flight, 11 radio and 3 engineering and technical personnel. The cost of the basic version of the A-50 is about 330 million dollars, the modernized version is about 500 million dollars.
