A shadow coup is possible in Russia, open – no, – Budanov/Collage 24 channel
It is impossible to stage an open coup d'état in Russia. But the shadow version may well happen.
This opinion was expressed by the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Kirill Budanov in an interview with Ukrainska Pravda. This does not mean that a coup is being prepared right now, but it is quite possible.
Putin's closest business environment is losing terrible money
Budanov first specified – earlier in a conversation with Sky News he did not claimthat Russia is already preparing a coup d'état. He was asked if it could happen at all.
Yes, it is quite real. But not because of the discontent of the people. Local elites in the opinion of ordinary people do not count at all. But they don't want to offend themselves.
But the immediate environment, which, let's say, now represents the financial branch, they have lost quite a lot because of the war of the war. Here they are looking for a way out of the situation. The easiest way out of the situation for them is to replace Putin with another person, – says Kirill Budanov.
According to him, you can always blame Putin for all the problems. Like, it was a sick dictator and please remove all sanctions. Let's start living in a new way.
Military, special services, business – who most of all wanted war
Budanov briefly outlined which of the Russian elites most expected the so-called “special operation”.
Military for the most part supported the conduct of the war. However, now they do not really want to continue hostilities, because they know about the real losses.
Russian special services thought differently. Some of them were for the war, because it would be possible to write off all the expenses that the Kremlin provided for the formation of pro-Russian people in Ukraine. This would help to hide their failures. The war will write everything off anyway.
It is interesting that they sincerely believed that they would capture Kyiv in three days, and on the tenth day they would complete the so-called “special operation”. But it failed.
Business elite are more pragmatic about war. They're losing a lot of money and they realize they need to do something about it.
They're losing money, and that's a lot of money. That is why they are against it. However, they do not dare to speak openly about it to Putin. There are such conversations among themselves. Such conversations are even going on between business and the security forces, between business and politicians. It's all there, – said Budanov.
