Vladimir Putin may announce total mobilization in Russia after winning the presidential elections in the spring of 2024. However, even mobilization silence poses a serious danger for the head of the Kremlin.

Russian political scientist Abbas Gallyamov told Channel 24 about this, noting that the Kremlin has been preparing for mobilization for a long time, in particular, it is rewriting old laws and coming up with new ones.

Decision is made

The likelihood that mobilization will be announced in Russia after the elections is very high. After all, the enemy army needs additional manpower. Back in the summer, the so-called Russian military officers began to complain that there were supposedly not enough people at the front.

If Russia does not plan to announce mobilization, then why did they change the regulatory framework? Deputies made many changes to bills during the previous spring session. And the law on electronic summons was generally adopted in three readings in one day,” Gallyamov noted.

Such rapid changes in legislation indicate that the decision to begin mobilization was made. However, then the mobilization was postponed because they realized that this would greatly damage Putin’s electoral prospects. As the Russian political scientist noted, the likelihood that mobilization will begin in April or May after Putin’s inauguration is very high.

Putin equals mobilization

Mobilization is one of the major challenges for Putin's campaign. After all, if the opposition launches the thesis that by voting for Putin you are voting for an agenda for your son, husband, brother or yourself, then this will sharply reduce the desire to vote for the current president of Russia even among loyal groups of the population.

It’s one thing to support the war in the abstract, but another thing is to support it with your readiness to go to the front,” Gallyamov added.

In addition, he recalled that during the mobilization in the fall of 2022, there was no enthusiasm among the population, but there were mass protests and evasions.

“It is clear that the Kremlin did not want to arrange this before the elections. If the opposition promotes the theme that Putin equals mobilization, then the dictator will not count a large number of votes,” said the Russian political scientist.

The Kremlin is afraid to announce total mobilization

  • NSDC Secretary Alexey Danilov said that the Kremlin still wants to destroy our state and is preparing for a long war. According to him, after the presidential elections in Russia, total mobilization may begin.
  • The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense noted that the terrorist country is ready for mass mobilization. The Russians even transferred everything to electronic accounting. However, they will not be announced yet due to the presidential elections, which will take place in March 2024.
  • Despite this, the Russian invaders do not stop forced mobilization in the occupied territories of Ukraine. The worst situation is now in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions, which are controlled by the occupiers, as well as in Crimea and the southern regions of Ukraine.
