With the start of the weekend, August 17-18, a significant increase in air temperature is expected in Ukraine, especially in the south and southeast to +35 °C, and in some places to +37 °C.
A forecaster from the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center told Fakty ICTV about this Natalia Ptukha.
A second wave of heat is coming to Ukraine
On August 18 and 19 it will be very hot almost all over Ukraine, except for the western and northern regions — there the temperature is expected to be +29-34 °C. At night the temperature is forecast to be +14-20 °C, and on the sea coast up to +23 °C.

The anticyclone, which affected the territory of Ukraine during the past week, extended from Scandinavia to the Black Sea. In it the air currents came from the northern latitudes, so we had some fresh air. And just during the weekend of August 17-18, this front will move further to the east and already with the beginning of the new week, the territory of Ukraine will be in a field of low pressure.
And at the same time, a warm air mass will arrive from the southeast, which will bring high temperatures, notes Natalia Ptukha.

According to the weather forecaster, short-term thunderstorms are expected on Saturday, mainly in the western, partly in the Vinnytsia regions, and on Sunday also in the Zhytomyr region, in places in the Kyiv and Cherkasy regions.
— It is worth noting that these are rather local rains, mainly in the afternoon, when the air has warmed up strongly and rises upward intensively. If the atmosphere is unstable, then there are already prerequisites for the formation of cumulonimbus clouds, — Natalia Ptukha notes.
According to her, after the rain, high humidity and high temperatures can make it feel stuffy.
Fire hazard
On August 17-19, in Ukraine, except for Zakarpattia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv and Rivne regions, an extreme level of fire hazard is expected.
According to Natalia Ptukha, the heat will not be as long as in July, since the nights are getting longer, so the air has more time to cool down.
