The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine called the accusations from Russia absurd and categorically denied that the Ukrainian authorities were allegedly preparing to blow up the dams of the Kyiv hydroelectric power station, the Kaniv reservoir, or other infrastructure to allegedly lay the blame on the Russian Federation.
The corresponding statement was made in the press center of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
Reaction of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the statements of the Russian Federation about the undermining of the Kanevskaya and Kyiv dams
— There can be no realistic goal or motive for Ukraine to destroy its own infrastructure or create threats to its own people, — stated in the ministry.
As for “blaming the Russian Federation” after the alleged explosion, which was claimed by the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova, here, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry recalled, the Russian regime “itself is coping with this task very well with its own war crimes”. As an example, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs cited the barbaric attack of a Russian missile on children in the main children's hospital of Ukraine Okhmatdyt, which terrorists carried out on July 8.

— The only reason for the threats to civilians and the destruction of critical infrastructure in Ukraine is Russian aggression. In the event that Moscow implements any criminal intentions regarding the dams of the Kyiv hydroelectric power station, the Kanev reservoir, or other infrastructure, responsibility for such actions will be borne exclusively by the aggressor state Russia, — the ministry reported.
The Foreign Ministry continued that the real purpose of such statements by official Moscow is an attempt to intimidate Ukrainian society and mislead the international community and the media.
— Russia has demonstrated this strategy many times: blaming others for what it does or plans to do. Another Russian fantasy on the theme of the Dnieper dams — this is a reason for the international community to monitor Russia’s actions even more closely, — the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.
The Foreign Ministry of Ukraine recalled that last year Russia committed the largest man-made crime in Europe in recent decades, blowing up the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station.
— This barbaric act, which led to ecocide and a humanitarian disaster, was accompanied by an active disinformation campaign. Moscow then also accused Kyiv of this crime, contrary to all real facts. Unfortunately, many foreign publications then unconsciously played along with Russian propaganda, spreading news with headlines about Ukraine and Russia allegedly “blaming each other”, — wrote to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has urged international media not to quote Russian speakers “without additional information about their previous history of lies” and not to equate Ukrainian and Russian statements.
— The professional approach to quoting professional Russian liars is to provide context rather than simply paraphrase their words — added by the department.
Statement of the Russian Federation on plans to undermine the Kyiv hydroelectric power station and the Kanev reservoir
Let us recall that before this, official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova stated that Ukraine allegedly plans to blow up the Kyiv and Kanev dams in order to then blame Russia for this.
The Center for Combating Disinformation (CDC) responded to this statement of the Russian Federation, which recalled that in this way the Kremlin is trying to destabilize the situation in Ukraine by spreading its disinformation campaign World, which aims to promote the narrative among Ukrainians about “ ;peace at any cost”, while simultaneously intimidating Ukrainian and Western societies.
The Center also recalled that now the terrorist state of the Russian Federation has no real opportunity to blow up the Kyiv hydroelectric power station or the Kanev reservoir.
