A positive political game for us: why Macron started talking about sending Western troops to Ukraine

by alex

French President Emmanuel Macron unexpectedly spoke about the possible dispatch of NATO troops to Ukraine. Such a political game is very positive for our state.

Macron sees that Germany does not want to be active, in particular, in the war in Ukraine. Therefore, as political scientist Taras Zagorodny told 24 Channel, he is trying to demonstrate his leadership in European countries.

Macron is fighting for influence in Eastern Europe

“Macron surprised me, considering that France is a fairly Russophile country. They have such a reverence for Russians since the Napoleonic wars. Even after 1917, there was a large migration of White Guards. Therefore, such a political game is very good for Ukraine,” the political scientist said.

The French President sees that Germany is lagging behind on the war in Ukraine. This, by the way, can be seen from the nuances in the security agreements that our state signs with partner countries. If you look at the document with Great Britain, there are clear definitions that Kyiv will be helped before joining NATO. At the same time, if you look at the German version, the issue of the North Atlantic Alliance is very carefully spelled out there, in fact it does not exist.

Therefore, Macron wants to demonstrate that he is the European leader – this is good, since France is a nuclear country. He is fighting for influence in Eastern Europe, and Britain and the Anglo-Saxons are also involved. The French understand that this part of European countries will play a very important role and the Anglo-Saxon states will actively invest in it due to threats from Russia.

Eastern Europe is, in fact, , another European Union, if you take into account Poland, Ukraine, Scandinavia, Romania, the Baltic countries. This is a fairly powerful bloc of countries that will be united by the danger from the aggressor country. Unfortunately, this is not yet strongly felt in the German leadership.

It is very good for us that Macron has spoken about this. Could we imagine that somewhere in 2021 the questions of whether NATO troops will be present on the territory of Ukraine will be openly discussed? I am sure that there are still some experts in Ukraine, but they do not talk about it openly, – noted Taras Zagorodniy.

The introduction of foreign troops into Ukraine: how the world and the Kremlin reacted

  • Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Petr Fiala said that Prague is not going to send troops to Ukraine. According to the Prime Minister, no one needs to fear that some form of forced war will be considered in the Czech Republic.
  • Polish President Andrzej Duda said that representatives of 28 countries During a meeting in Paris, they discussed the idea of sending military personnel to Ukraine. There was no common position on this issue.
  • Vladimir Putin’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov said that if the deployment of military personnel is carried out, then “we will have to talk not about probability, but about inevitability direct clash between Russia and NATO.”
  • French Foreign Minister Stephane Sejournet explained that troops from Western countries, in the event of a theoretical departure to Ukraine, which was proposed the day before by Emmanuel Macron, will not participate in combat.
