This winter in Ukraine is marked by absolutely atypical weather. In particular, several temperature records have been recorded in the capital of our state since the beginning of 2023.
The last of them dates back to January 18. On this day, the average daily air temperature in Kyiv rose to +7.3 degrees.
New weather records
This is 1.6 degrees above the record temperature on this day since 1993, according to the geophysical observatory. That is, the last time such a warm winter pleased the people of Kiev and guests of the city 143 years ago.
Moreover, on January 18, the weather outside the window exceeded the norm by 9.8 degrees. Therefore, it corresponded to the weather indicators of the beginning of April, but by no means the middle of winter.
Maximum and minimum indicators
Also, the Central Geophysical Observatory recorded records of the maximum and minimum temperatures of the capital for January 18. Thus, the maximum temperature in the capital rose to 10.2 degrees, which exceeded the previous record for this day in 2007 by 0.8 degrees.
The minimum air temperature in Kyiv broke a 32-year-old record and amounted to +3, 4 degrees. “The previous record value was noted in 1990,” the observatory noted.
Records were recorded from the first day of 2023
- The first temperature records in Kyiv were recorded on January 1. Then, during the day and before sunset, the thermometer in Kyiv reached +13…+14 degrees, which was the highest temperature in all the years of scientific observations.
- The previous temperature record was recorded back in 1991. Then the temperature reached +11.1 degrees.
- It is worth noting that such an abnormally warm winter is observed not only in Ukraine. In particular, the New Year was the warmest ever for the Czech Republic and Poland.
