A climatologist and employee of the Subbotin Institute of Geophysics of the National Academy of Sciences told Channel 24 about what autumn will be like in Ukraine this year Ukraine Svetlana Boychenko.
How the climate is changing in Ukraine
The climatic conditions of Ukraine, in unison with global trends, are characterized by an increase in temperature at a rate of approximately 1.3 – 1.4 degrees per 100 years. But in recent decades, the rate of warming has accelerated significantly. – said the climatologist.
Warm and little snowy winters, abnormal heat in summer with long rainless periods have become traditional in Ukraine. However, the climate is cyclical. Therefore, in recent years, against the background of fairly warm and “European winters”, cold periods with frost and snow also appear. Boichenko called it “temperature carousels”.
At the same time, more precipitation began to fall in summer, but usually in the form of showers.
What can Ukrainians expect in autumn
Ukraine has a tendency to increase air temperature in September and November. At the same time, there will be no changes in October.
This year, against the background of characteristic temperature trends, an increase in precipitation in autumn is expected, and especially in November, Boichenko emphasized.
According to her, in September there will be an alternation of dry and wet periods.
