A huge hailstorm hits Spain: a small child is killed

A huge hail swept through the Spanish city of La Bisbal Diemporda in Catalonia. Hailstones up to 10 centimeters in diameter injured a 2-year-old girl and she died from her injuries.

According to the mayor of the city, the hail fell for approximately 10 minutes, but they were terrible. The tragedy occurred on August 30.

A 2-year-old girl was injured by hail, so she was taken to a hospital in the provincial capital. However, on the morning of August 31, the child died from his injuries.

We have a terrible case where a little girl was hit by hail. There was little that could be done for her, and today she passed away. This is a terrible tragedy,” Mayor Carme Val said.

She also added that there was almost no rain, only hailstones up to 11 centimeters wide.

According to the Catalan meteorological office MeteoCat, in the city of the death of a child, hailstones were 10 cm in diameter. That is, the hail was the largest in the region since 2002.

The Bombers Regional Fire Service of Catalonia reported that on the night of August 31, it received 39 calls from the city of La Bisbal Diemporda and two from the nearest city of Forallac, because there:

Unfortunately, the MeteoCat bureau on the morning of August 31 warned people about a possible repeated hail.

By the way, on August 15, a large-scale sandstorm rose in Dubai, demolishing everything in its path. The city announced a red level of danger, and motorists were urged to be careful on the roads.
