A fire broke out in one of the hotels in the Polish city of Olecko, in the Warmian-Masurian voivodeship. There were 155 Ukrainians living in the building, there were four casualties.

According to the press secretary of the Fire Service in the city, Marek Wysocki, information about smoke in the hotel premises appeared on Thursday at about 10:40 (Kyiv time).

— It was established on the spot that the fire broke out in one of the rooms on the second floor; there was intense smoke there. Firefighters were primarily focused on the rescue operation. In particular, 28 people were evacuated from the balconies using a hydraulic lift and fire escapes, — he said.
Vysotsky added that other citizens of Ukraine were able to independently leave the place of danger. At the same time, four Ukrainians who had difficulty breathing due to smoke were sent for examination by doctors.
The rescue and fire extinguishing itself lasted three hours. The spread of the fire resulted in several burnt rooms and part of the corridor.
Polish firefighters say Ukrainian citizens should no longer return to the hotel.
Marek Wysocki says that the reasons for the spread of the fire remain unknown.
As Oletsk police spokesman Damian Ritvinsky indicated in a comment to Ukrinform, due to the fire the hotel is not suitable for living. The Ukrainians themselves were placed in a gym nearby.

In turn, the Ukrainian consul in Gdansk Alexander Plodisty says that four people were slightly injured as a result of the fire, but they refused hospitalization. In addition, the issue of further resettlement of Ukrainians will be discussed with local authorities.
