A conversation between his ideal self and his real self: what Putin will talk about at the press conference

by alex

Vladimir Putin will talk to the Russian press and people on December 14. Traditionally, a monologue-speech will last at least an hour, where the Russian president will tell yet another fantastic story about the correctness of his actions.

However, the head of the Kremlin is better than this not to do. The verbiage has pretty much tired Russians and will not help encourage voters. Russian political scientist and oppositionist Abbas Gallyamov shared these thoughts with Channel 24.

Even supporters of the Putin regime are waiting for some… then actions, because during the reign we heard only conversations. At the same time, it is important for Putin to convince not only people, but himself, that he is doing everything right.

He has doubts scurrying around inside him, he crushes them. A press conference or public dialogues are aimed not only at the audience, it is also a conversation between one’s ideal self and the real one, the Russian political scientist noted. ” to a “dead corner” because there is nothing to brag about. Suppose the Kremlin leader focuses on topics related to life in Russia.

What Russians want to ask Putin

A few weeks ago, the Russian research organization Levada Center conducted a survey and found out what Russians would ask Putin on the “direct line” on December 14th. The leading topic was “SVO”, more than 21% of respondents want to ask Putin about its completion and results. Only 8% are concerned about problems of the economy, welfare, housing and communal services and wages.

However, such studies were not published on official Russian resources. On the contrary, they cite that the Russian people are primarily concerned about issues of pensions, comfort of life and provision from the state.

They are clearly going through the agenda and They are trying to portray that people are not interested in the topic of “SVO”, but that they, on the contrary, are interested in their own lives. The initial idea at the press conference is this: to talk about the life of the country, and “SVO” is just one of the aspects of the existence of the state,” Abbas Gallyamov emphasized.

Discussions on “SVO” in Russia

The Russian oppositionist emphasized that there are disputes among Putin's entourage over references to “SVO” during the press conference:

  • some people want not to cover the war in Ukraine at all;
  • others, on the contrary, believe that this is the “number one” topic, and everything that interferes with the so-called “special operation” should be thrown into the trash.

There is also a struggle within Putin – a dispute between the rational and the emotional. On the rational side, political scientists tell the Russian president that people are tired of the “SVO” and, moreover, there are no successes in Ukraine, so there is no need to raise the topic on the agenda.

“Scratching your tongue” about demilitarization and denazification will not work, it will cause outrage. People are waiting for specifics, not empty talk,” Gallyamov noted.

On the emotional side, the Russian president hates Ukraine and its leadership. Vladimir Putin believes that he cannot betray the Russian soldiers who shed blood at the front and push the “SVO” to the periphery, on the advice of political strategists.

“Direct Line” with Putin: what is known

  • “Direct Line” and the press conference were announced by Putin's press secretary Dmitry Peskov. According to him, Putin will talk to the press and Russians on December 14.
  • ISW analysts believe that during the “dialogue with the people” Russians are most interested in discussing the results of the war in Ukraine . Also, the “straight line” will likely serve as the beginning of the 2024 presidential campaign.
  • However, if the question of war against Ukraine is nevertheless raised during the press conference, Putin's answer will be banal. He will only say that the fighting will end when supposedly “Russia fulfills all goals” or “wins.”
  • Russian presidential elections will not be held on March 17, 2024, as planned previously. In Russia it was reported that the elections will last three days – from March 15 to 17.
