Acting head of the Ukrainian Athletics Federation, People's Deputy Olga Saladukha commented on the decision of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to admit Russians and Belarusians to the 2024 Summer Olympics in “neutral” status.
According to her, the IOC decision greatly outraged the Ukrainians. Saladha called him “fast and unexpected”.
She said this during a briefing on the history and present of Russia’s hybrid aggression in the field of sports at the Ukrainian Crisis Media Center.

— We must now do everything to collect facts about sanctioned athletes from aggressor countries. Last November, we came up with the idea of creating a working group that brought together ministries, sports organizations and the like. I head the sanctions group in parliament. There are already more than 300 people on the sanctions list who violated all principles, gambled, and behaved like propagandists. Collecting facts, — stated Saladha.
The people's deputy added that such persons, even under a neutral flag, should not cross borders: We will appeal to the French government to have their visas blocked.
Possible boycott of the 2024 Olympics
Commenting on Ukraine’s possible boycott of the 2024 Games in Paris, she said that “if you boycott, then this boycott should be active”.
— We must go to the Olympics and prove that we are right, demonstrate the inadmissibility of these athletes’ participation in the Olympic sports festival. The boycott should only be at the last minute. After we use all possible leverage, — noted Saladukha.
In other words, the people’s deputy noted, Ukrainians should perform at the Games, raise our flag there and do everything to ensure that there are no sanctioned athletes in the arenas.
IOC allowed Russians to participate in the 2024 Olympics
8 December The International Olympic Committee announced that athletes from the Russian Federation and Belarus will be allowed to participate in the 2024 Olympics in “neutral” status.
Representatives of the aggressor countries will only be able to compete in individual competitions. Teams will not be allowed to participate.
