An earthquake occurred on the east coast of the United States on Friday, April 5th. Tremors were felt in densely populated New York.
According to officials, the earthquake was previously reported to have a magnitude of 4.8. Its epicenter was near the city of Lebanon in New Jersey. It happened around 10:30 local time.
The media write that the earthquake, although it shook skyscrapers and the suburbs, did not cause significant destruction. At the same time, it frightened residents and guests of the northeastern United States, who were not accustomed to tremors.

The US Geological Survey reported that more than 42 million people could feel the morning earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 4.8 in New Jersey.
From the epicenter of the earthquake to New York is approximately 72 km, and to Philadelphia — 80 km.
The Associated Press reported that three apartment buildings in Newark, New Jersey, were severely damaged by the tremors. Because of this, almost 30 residents were forced to move.
