Zelensky phoned Italian Prime Minister Draghi
So, Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi was going to talk with the President of Ukraine. On May 21, the phone call went through. Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced this on his Twitter.
During the call, Zelenskyy and Draghi discussed the following issues:
- cooperation between the two countries in the defense industry< /li>
- the need for the adoption of the 6th package of sanctions against Russia
- unblocking Ukrainian ports
Called at the initiative of Mario Draghi. We talked about cooperation in the defense industry, the need to accelerate the 6th package of sanctions and unblock Ukrainian ports, Zelensky said.
The President added that he thanked Italy for its unconditional support for Ukraine on its way to the European Union.
Italy has developed a plan to end the war
The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with the participation of the state government, has developed its own plan for peace and settlement of the situation in Ukraine. It includes not only a ceasefire in Ukraine, but also cooperation with international partners, in particular the European Union, the G7 and the UN.
This document has already been handed over to UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres.
The plan has 4 stages, consisting of the following points:
- a ceasefire, which should be agreed upon during hostilities, and also the elimination of the line of hostilities under the supervision of the UN;
- Ukraine's accession to the European Union in a short time and its neutral status without joining NATO;
- an agreement between Ukraine and Russia on the territories of Donbass and temporarily occupied Crimea to resolve conflicts beyond internationally recognized borders;
- a new multilateral treaty for peace and security in Europe, which should ensure arms control and conflict prevention.
Note that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has confirmed that Italy has proposed its vision of ending the war. Currently, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry is studying these proposals.
