2,606 cruise missiles have already hit Ukraine: Zelensky rebuked the world about anti-missile systems

Vladimir Zelensky drew attention to the fact that hundreds of lives of Ukrainian civilians could be saved if Europe responded to Ukraine's request in time and provided anti-missile systems ahead of time.

In a traditional evening address, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that more than 2,500 cruise missiles were fired during the 109 days of Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine. He stressed that this terrible figure could be reduced if Europe provided the country with anti-missile equipment in time.

According to Volodymyr Zelensky, during the full-scale hostilities on the territory of Ukraine, the Russians fired 2,606 different cruise missiles, which inflicted irreparable damage to Ukrainian cities and broke hundreds of Ukrainian citizens.

Today is already the 109th day of a full-scale war, but far from the 109th day when we tell our partners a simple thing: Ukraine needs modern missile defense systems. Deliveries of such systems were possible this year, and last year, and even earlier. Have we received them? No. Are they needed? Yes. There have already been 2606 affirmative answers to this question in the form of various Russian cruise missiles that hit Ukrainian cities. In our cities, in our villages from February 24, Zelensky said.

The President emphasized that many lives that have been lost since February 24 could have been saved if Europe had paid attention to Ukraine's request and provided the necessary anti-missile systems.

This is life, that could have been saved is a tragedy that could have been prevented if Ukraine had been listened to,โ€ Zelensky said.

Thousands of civilian lives could have been saved

  • Management The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights said that at least 4,253 civilians have died during Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. In fact, there are many more civilian casualties – the UN only counts recorded deaths.
  • The list of the dead does not include civilians from Mariupol, Popasna and other settlements that are temporarily not under the control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
  • The defenders of Mariupol have calculated the number of deaths in the city since the beginning of a full-scale war. Unfortunately, 25,000 people died, most of them civilians.
