22-year-old Ukrainian foil fencer Daria Mironyuk won a silver medal at the 2024 European Fencing Championships in Basel, Switzerland.
This is Ukraine’s first medal at Euro 2024 in fencing and only the second in the history of our country in foil fencing.

In the 1/8 finals, the Ukrainian defeated the Austrian Olivia Wolgemuth (15:11), and in the quarterfinals Mironyuk’s opponent on the track was another Ukrainian Alina Polozyuk, whom she defeated with a score of 15:13.

In the semi-finals, Daria confidently beat the reigning champion of the 2023 European Games Julia Walczyk-Klimashik (15:11) from Poland.
And in the fight for the gold medal, Mironyuk had an advantage of 10:6, but still lost to the experienced 36-year-old Italian Arianna Errigo with a score of 10: 15.
For Daria Mironyuk, this medal is her debut at the adult European fencing championships.
Also, this is only the second medal of Ukraine at the Euro in foil fencing in history. For the first time, Olga Leleiko won an award in this discipline at Euro 2007, when she won bronze.
