In Melitopol, the occupation authorities renamed the street, which was named after the theorist of Ukrainian nationalism Dmitry Dontsov.
Now it will be named after the KGB killer Pavel Sudoplatov, a Soviet intelligence officer who killed Yevgeny Konovalets, one of the leaders of the OUN, on May 23, 1938, channel 24 reports.
This is reported by the Russian media, saying that the Russians are in Melitopol “denazified” the street.
Today, May 26, the order to rename the street was signed by collaborator Evgeny Balitsky, whom the Russians appointed as the “head” of the occupation administration of the Zaporozhye region.
Rename the street named after Dmitry Dontsov in Melitopol to the street named after Pavel Sudoplatov. This order comes into force from the date of its signing, the document says.
Also, according to the order of the traitor Balitsky, a memorial plaque on house No. 1 should be installed in Melitopol on the renamed street until June 12, 2022 .
What is known about Dontsov and Sudoplatov
Dmitry Dontsov was born in Melitopol in 1883. He is considered the main ideologist of Ukrainian integral nationalism. The ideas and views of Dontsov formed the basis of the political platform of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists. By the way, the activities of the OUN-UPA are prohibited on the territory of Russia.
Pavel Sudoplatov is also a native of Melitopol. During the Great Patriotic War, he served in the NKVD, was responsible for the leadership of partisan and reconnaissance and sabotage operations, coordinated the work of the agent network in Germany and its allies.
In Rotterdam in 1938, Sudoplatov, using an explosive device disguised as a box of chocolates, killed the leader of the Ukrainian nationalists Yevhen Konovalets. A few years before the murder, Sudoplatov got into close relations with Konovalets, disguised as a member of an underground Ukrainian organization in the RSFSR.
