Ivanyushchenko's million-dollar assets may be under arrest/Channel 24 collage associate of the former President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych Yuri Ivanyushchenko. We are talking about the amount of more than 100 million Swiss francs (about 104 million dollars).
This information is reported by Ukrinform, citing a press release from the Federal Council of Switzerland.
Switzerland froze Ivanyushchenko's assets back in 2014 after the revolution in February. Today, May 25, 2022, the Swiss Federal Council decided to initiate a case on the administrative confiscation of Yuriy Ivanyushchenko's assets.
Thus, Switzerland supports Ukraine, which is facing certain difficulties in its efforts to confiscate these assets. These difficulties were exacerbated with the start of the war in Ukraine, the report says.
They also emphasized that the decision taken today is in no way related to the sanctions imposed by the EU against Russia in 2022 as a result of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

The statement says that the Federal Council instructed the Ministry of Finance to initiate a confiscation case in the Federal Administrative Court ( FAC).
The legal proceedings concern the assets of Yuri Ivanyushchenko and his family in the amount of more than 100 million Swiss francs. The FAC will determine compliance with the forfeiture conditions. If, after the end of the trial, the assets are finally confiscated, they will be returned to Ukraine, the Council noted.
It is noted that the confiscation procedure is based on the Foreign Illicit Assets Act (FIAA). According to official information, it is used only in exceptional cases. The law allows for the confiscation of the assets of foreign PEPs, but subject to certain conditions. In particular, it is necessary that the judicial system of a foreign state tried to confiscate assets, but failed to do so.
It was previously reported that in December 2021, the Swiss Federal Council extended the freezing of the assets of Viktor Yanukovych and his entourage until February 2023 .

According to the investigation, the ex-president, by prior agreement, acted jointly with the former Prime Minister of Ukraine. Viktor Yanukovych violated the requirements of the Constitution and the Law of Ukraine on international treaties.
It is reported that the fugitive ex-president provided assistance to the aggressor country and its representatives in carrying out subversive activities directed against Ukraine.
