1,500 Hamas mines and tunnels have already been discovered: where the main battles continue in the Gaza Strip

IDF ground operation in The Gaza Strip continues and in fact the northern part is under the operational control of the IDF. The main battles are now taking place in the south of the Gaza Strip in the city of Khan Yunis, which is the second headquarters of Hamas.

On air< strong> 24 ChannelsJournalist of the Israeli analytical portal “Details” Roman Yanushevsky spoke in detail about the ground phase of the war between Hamas and Israel.

Who are the Israeli intelligence services hunting?

The Israeli army took full control of Jabaliya in the north of the Gaza Strip. The IDF is advancing firmly and along the way has already discovered 1,500 mines and underground tunnels from which Palestinian militants are providing the main resistance.

It is known that the leading leaders of Hamas are hiding in the Khan Yunis area in particular, the head of the militant wing, Mohammed Deif, and the head of Hamas in the Gaza Strip, Yahya Sinwar.

These two militants are on the black list. Israeli intelligence services are hot on their trail. Yesterday (December 19 – Channel 24) it was reported that special forces visited 4 houses of Yahya Sinwar and in some places there were signs that the head of Hamas had recently been there, Yanushevsky said.

According to him, now Mohammed Deif and Yahya Sinwar are symbols of Hamas and therefore they are being hunted. Once they are eliminated or captured, it will be a huge blow to the morale of Hamas.

New phase of the ground operation

It is expected that after clearing the areas where fighting is currently taking place, the Israel Defense Forces will move on to other areas of the Gaza Strip. The IDF will warn civilians about this and humanitarian areas will be created that will not be targeted. However, terrorists take advantage of this and hide in such places.

About a week ago, the Israeli military detained the director of one of the hospitals in the Gaza Strip. He said that the militants turned this hospital into a Hamas stronghold.

Despite the fact that, according to humanitarian law, any medical facilities receive immunity during hostilities. The detained hospital director said that 16 hospital workers belonged to the militant wing of Hamas.

The ambulances did not transport the wounded. Only terrorists moved in them, abusing international law. Hamas has not written the law. Palestinian militants cynically use everything for their own needs, noted a journalist from the Israeli analytical portal “Details”.

Will it be possible to reach an agreement a second time ceasefire

In the near future the intensity of fighting will decrease. Combat operations will be more targeted, the IDF will operate in small groups. The tunnels are now being cleared.

The Israeli authorities are also trying to conclude a ceasefire agreement with Hamas in order to release another group of hostages.< /strong> At least 130 people are currently being held captive by terrorists.

Time is working against these hostages, so another attempt is being made to come to an agreement with Hamas and save at least some of the hostages held by the militants. – added Yanushevsky.

The biggest concession that Israel will make to free the hostages is ceasefire. By According to one information, the fire may be suspended for a week, according to another – for two weeks. Currently, a Hamas delegation has arrived in Cairo for negotiations, the outcome of which is not yet very clear.
