As reported by the RzeczPospolita publication, on January 3 in Warsaw, the driver of a white minibus hit a 14-year-old Ukrainian citizen on a pedestrian crossing, after which he did not provide assistance to him and fled the scene of the accident.

According to the publication, the first to provide assistance to the Ukrainian teenager after the accident was run over was a passerby — military.

The guy was taken to the hospital, but as a result of serious head and chest injuries, the Ukrainian died in the hospital.

During a press conference, Piotr Skiba, a representative of the Warsaw District Prosecutor's Office, noted that the driver who fled the scene of the accident was a 43-year-old Polish citizen.

— After the crime, the suspect hid the minibus in the outskirts of Warsaw. There he drank alcohol with one of his family members, — he said.

The driver was detained the day after the car accident, that is, on January 4. As noted by the prosecutor's office, the man named Andrzej was intoxicated.

The Warsaw prosecutor's office decided to file a petition with the court to apply a preventive measure — detention of the suspected Polish citizen.

According to investigators, Andrzej is an employee of a courier service. He has already served a sentence for drug possession and assisting foreigners in illegally crossing the border.

The Pole is charged with two articles, in particular, committing a fatal accident and fleeing the scene of an accident. He faces between five and 20 years in prison.
