12-year-old Kira Obedinskaya was returned to her grandfather/Collage of Channel 24
The daughter of the titled water polo player and former captain of the Ukrainian national team Yevgeny Obedinsky, who died in Mariupol, was returned to her grandfather. After the death of her father, 12-year-old Kira was taken to Donetsk by the invaders.
After her father's death, the girl was left an orphan. Her mother died when Kira was a baby.
The child is now in Kyiv
The grandmother of 12-year-old Kira said that the child is now in Kyiv with grandfather. As noted in the Ombudsman's Office, Kira's grandfather wants to establish guardianship over her.
In addition to Kira, 9-year-old Ilya Matvienko was returned from the occupied territory. His mother died during the bombing of Mariupol.
The only relative of the boy, his grandmother, also turned to the Ombudsman with a request to establish custody of her grandson.
