Alexander Zverev
Alexander Zverev is in the semi-finals of the tennis classic in the Wiener Stadthalle, wrestling the Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime in three sets.
The German had taken the world number twelfth in 2:05 hours with 6: 4, 3: 6 and 6: 3 from the tournament, so that he reached the semifinals of the ATP 500 tournament.
There the 24-year-old gets up against Carlos Alcaraz. In the first game of the day, the only 18-year-old Spanish shooting star prevailed after a hard-fought 2:40 hour against the Italian Matteo Berrettini with 6: 1, 6: 7 (2) and 7: 6 (5).
Zverev made another lightning start in the Wiener Stadthalle, made the early break to 2: 1 and never gave up the lead. After 39 minutes, the Olympic champion from Tokyo used his first set ball with an ace – 6: 4.
Auger-Aliassime fought his way back into the game in the second round, used the only break chance in the second round to make it 5: 3, and closed the second set with a service winner 6: 3.
In the third round, the two tennis stars then delivered a real exchange of blows. Zverev used his sixth break ball in the sixth game, which lasted 16 minutes, and won the Canadian's serve to make it 4-2. The 24-year-old never gave up the lead and used his second match point in front of his “queen of hearts” Sophia Thomalla – 6: 3.
In the first quarter-finals, Alcaraz had shown a great fighting performance. The 18-year-old crowd favorite wrestled the number three seeded Berrettini in three sentences. Alcaraz played big, especially in the first round, closing the set 6: 1. After the Italian won the tie-break 7-2 in the second set, the young Spaniard kept his nerve in the third set and won the tie-break in the third set 7-3.
