Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy urged household consumers to buy gas from Naftogaz to “save on bills.”
“State-owned companies are needed to work in the public interest, to create profitable opportunities for ordinary people. Naftogaz should clearly show the Ukrainians how the company will provide gas at a cheaper price … Despite the fact that the country has switched to the gas market and the market dictates prices, Naftogaz still has the cheapest prices of all suppliers, ”Zelensky said in a statement …
The President also called on local authorities to explain to people how they can save on gas bills by choosing a state supplier.
Earlier, Zelensky announced the country's intention to abandon the use of coal over time.
In July it became known that Naftogaz was raising the gas price for the population by 7%. In the fall, the company announced that 24 billion cubic meters of gas were accumulated in underground storage facilities.
As noted in Ukrtransgaz, the country may start exporting gas to Europe, which has been accumulated in domestic underground gas storage facilities.
