Russian-speaking and Ukrainian-speaking residents of Ukraine should be “one family”. President of the Republic Volodymyr Zelensky spoke about this during a speech on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the country's independence. The festive event is broadcast on the YouTube channel “112 Ukraine”.
In his speech, Zelensky recalled the conflict in Donbass and the receipt of Russian passports by residents of the region. “It is possible to temporarily occupy territories, but it is impossible to occupy people's love for Ukraine. You can create a dead end and force them to get passports, but you cannot passportize their Ukrainian hearts, ”he stressed.
The head of state also announced the unity of the Ukrainian population, which must be preserved despite cultural and political differences. “Because Ukraine unites us. Because we all tell her: “You are my only one,” concluded Zelensky.
Earlier, the Ukrainian leader compared Donbass to the Berlin Wall and advised local residents with sympathy for Russia to leave the region, since it “will never be Russian” and will sooner or later return under Kiev's control.
