Zelensky explained why Türkiye wants to join BRICS

BRICS is not a political association, so Turkey can join it to solve certain economic problems.

Turkey applied to join the organization BRICS because it is experiencing major problems with its own economy and is looking for new opportunities at the expense of increasing trade turnover with members of the organization.

This opinion was expressed on the broadcast by the adviser to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Mykhailo Podolyak.

“The world is not perfect, the world is pragmatic. I do not see anything surprising in Turkey's behavior. It wants to get what it wants, using this time of chaos,” Podolyak said.

He stated that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will fundamentally support the territorial integrity of Ukraine.

“He also spoke about this on the Crimean platform, regardless of the fact that Turkey has an increase in certain economic relations with Russia. The Turkish economy is going through difficult times, so Turkey is looking for opportunities to strengthen itself by, for example, increasing trade with the Russian Federation,” explained the adviser to the head of the OP.

At the same time, he emphasized that BRICS is not a political association.

“This is not even an association like the EU. This is an association for solving certain economic problems. Therefore, this can be used calmly – to talk about supporting territorial integrity and receiving certain dividends from BRICS,” Podolyak added.

Recall that it was previously reported that the Austrian Chancellor wants to involve the BRICS countries in putting pressure on Russia.

In addition, we previously reported that Argentina refused to join BRICS.
