The Armed Forces of Ukraine and ordinary Ukrainians oppose the Russian invaders, so it is wrong to say that some territories of Ukraine were in the hands of the Russian Federation, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said in an interview with the Italian newspaper La Repubblica .
– It is very important to be as clear as possible in the wording and understanding of the situation. There is nothing Ukrainian in the hands of Russia. Yes, they seized some territories, occupied our Ukrainian settlements, just like real nuclear terrorists seized the Zaporozhye and Chernobyl nuclear power plants to blackmail the world, but all this does not belong to them, because the Ukrainians are resisting,” the head of state explained.
According to him, all Ukrainians rallied, holding back the cruelest aggression since the Second World War.
– People protest in occupied cities, tear down Russian flags under bullets and oppose the occupation. Everywhere Ukrainians demonstrate amazing fortitude, resisting the force of weapons, missile and air strikes, constant bombing, etc., Zelensky said.
He also expressed the hope that the entire civilized world will eventually will unite with Ukraine to stop the war in Europe.
– I often say this to all world leaders: Ukraine is the outpost of this war, which deters the aggressor. But Putin will not stop there and will go further, this should be understood by all Europeans, all the leaders of Europe and the world. The impunity of criminal activity gives rise to the illusion that someone can change the world order, that the force of law can be violated by the right of force,” the president summed up.
