Zaluzhny expressed hope that, "despite the weakness of politicians,", Ukraine will continue the fight and win.
Ukrainian Ambassador to the UK, former Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valeriy Zaluzhny reproached the West for insufficient support and warned of even worse consequences in case of inaction.
He said this in his speech at the analytical center Chatham House in London, the text of which is quoted by “Ukrainian Truth”.
Zaluzhny reproached that on the eve of a full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, the West did not believe in Ukraine. Therefore, the Western press, fearing Putin, first gave Ukraine three hours, then three days.
“Then, having come to the aid of Ukraine, the West, fearing a nuclear war or escalation, did not provide Ukraine with the necessary amount of weapons. Therefore, we were unable to achieve any significant results in defeating Russia in 2023,” the former commander-in-chief notes.
According to Zaluzhny, the world is now facing the consequences of “the West's unwillingness to influence global security.”
“I did not come here to criticize the West or NATO. I absolutely understand that Ukraine, even according to the Budapest Memorandum, is not to blame for anything. Ukraine fights for survival every day. I just want… for us, humanity, in whose hands is the fate of 21 centuries were smart and remembered their past, so as not to relive it in the future,” the Ukrainian ambassador to Britain concluded.
Recall that Valeriy Zaluzhny also commented on the Kursk operation of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and spoke about his attitude to President Zelensky's Victory Plan.
