Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova substantiated the need to introduce new sanctions against other countries. She spoke about this in the “Special Guest” program with Tina Kandelaki on the YouTube channel RTVI.
According to her, Russia is not trying to overtake anyone in this matter, but only responds to such measures addressed to itself. Zakharova noted that Russia does not seek to go “along the road of sanctions, confrontations and so on.” A ministry spokesperson explained that each time the Russian authorities, responding to the imposition of sanctions against the country, emphasize that this is “not their choice.” She added that Russia stands for completely different methods of interaction in the international arena.
Zakharova also said that Russophobia in the United States is one of the key factors in the internal political struggle. She explained that this practice is included in the electoral cycle and is observed during election campaigns.
