Maria Zakharova
The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, spoke about the use of feminitives. According to her in an interview for RIA Novosti, she did not come across the issue of their application and perceived their discussion as a joke.
In the conversation, the journalist mentioned the neologisms “editor” and “diplomat” and asked whether the words are being altered in this way in the Foreign Ministry. In response, Zakharova laughed and stated that she had not come across such a discussion.
“I don’t know, this is the first time I’ve heard such a term from you. It seemed to me that it was more of a joke, ”the agency quotes the words of the Foreign Ministry worker.
In September last year, TV presenter Vladimir Pozner shared his opinion on feminitives. He considered that this use of suffixes in words denoting professional affiliation is nothing more than a popular modern slang, which is unlikely to linger in the language for a long time.
