Russia is awaiting the European Union's assessment of disinformation about Russia's alleged attack on Ukraine. This is how the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, reacted to the accusations of the head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, of disinforming the Russian media about Ukraine's offensive in the Donbass in a commentary to Lente.ru.

“We are waiting for the High Representative of the EU and the structures of the European Union to assess the massive disinformation campaign in the Western media regarding the alleged attack by Russia,” the diplomat said.

Earlier, Borrell said that NATO and the European Union have no evidence of the withdrawal of Russian troops from the borders with Ukraine. At the same time, the head of European diplomacy pointed to the intensification of hostilities and shelling in certain areas of the contact line and announced a “large amount of misinformation” about the attack on Russian people in eastern Ukraine.

On Thursday, February 17, the authorities of the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics (DPR and LPR) and the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) accused each other of shelling and escalating the conflict in Donbass. British Prime Minister Boris Johnson called reports of the shelling of the DPR and LPR by Ukraine “a staging to discredit the authorities in Kiev.”
