Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Maria Zakharova reacted to information about Moscow's attempt to disrupt the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. TASS reports.
According to her, individual states continue to carry out the practice of unsubstantiated accusations. Zakharova said she would not be surprised if Russian hackers were accused of postponing the Games. The representative of the Foreign Ministry also recalled that Russia's proposals to organize a meeting of experts to discuss the accumulated problems and claims remain unanswered.
On October 19, Great Britain and the United States suspected Russia of trying to disrupt the Tokyo Olympics. According to the source, Russian military intelligence allegedly planned a cyberattack at the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games. It is also alleged that Russian cyber intelligence had an impact on the Games organizers, logistics services and sponsors.
In March, it was decided that the 2020 Olympic Games will be held in the summer of 2021 due to an unfavorable epidemiological situation. At the same time, the director of the organizing committee of the Games, Haruyuki Takahashi, admitted the possibility of re-postponing the competition.
