Zakharova explained the return of Russian diplomats from the DPRK on a railcar

Maria Zakharova

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova explained the return of Russian diplomats from North Korea on a railcar. She gave a comment to the Podyem publication, as reported in its Telegram channel.

According to her, the Russians were taken from the DPRK when the first opportunity for this presented itself, and how exactly this happened was influenced by the coronavirus pandemic – passenger traffic with Pyongyang is now closed. Zakharova added that the question of why diplomatic workers were not provided with transport should be addressed to the North Korean side.

She said that Russian citizens had the opportunity to get to the Russian Federation through China, but then they would have to be in quarantine for three weeks.

The “journey” of the diplomats became known on the evening of February 25. The Russians could not leave the territory of the neighboring country in the usual way, so they got to the border area by public transport.

They had to cross the Tumannaya River, which divides the countries, on a railway bridge on a non-self-propelled railcar. The main “engine” of this vehicle – the third secretary of the embassy Vladislav Sorokin – pushed the loaded cart for more than a kilometer.
