Western politicians who deny the conclusion of agreements on the issue of non-expansion of NATO with Russia can be diagnosed as collective amnesia. This was stated by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova at a briefing.
“We don’t have enough talk about security, we need long-term legal guarantees from the United States and its NATO allies, given what we have now, even in recent months, seen and heard,” she recalled.
The Russian authorities over the past months have repeatedly demanded that NATO sign a commitment to non-expansion to the east, thereby guaranteeing Russia's security. However, the North Atlantic Alliance is “deadly standing” against the abolition of the principle of opening its doors to other countries, said Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
