Major Western Internet companies ignore Russian law and tend to violate freedom of speech. For this they were criticized by the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Maria Zakharova in a conversation with RIA Novosti.
“It would seem that the Internet is a common space. But we see how the very companies that you call Internet giants behave outside the legal framework, if we talk about the jurisdiction of our country, our legislative base, ”Zakharova said in an interview.
She added that companies are ready to ignore both fines and the legal principles themselves, not only in Russia, but also abroad. So, contrary to the values of freedom of speech, Zakharova recalled, “the president of the United States of America, his accounts from Internet platforms and social networks were suddenly taken and disconnected. It was unprecedented. “
On March 7, Facebook blocked articles written by Russian media outlets citing FSB materials, considering them to be false. In the material of RBC, with reference to TASS, it was reported about the detention in Voronezh of alleged supporters of the Ukrainian neo-Nazi group MKU.
According to security officials, the suspects were engaged in the propaganda of the ideology of neo-Nazism and massacres. The group was created by a 19-year-old young man in January 2020. In April, he made a stencil with an extremist text and, together with his comrades 33 and 17 years old, placed inscriptions on the walls of residential buildings in the city. On February 18 they were detained.
