The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, said that the purpose of the “hysteria” of the West about Russia's alleged invasion of Ukraine is a provocation. She announced this on the air of the YouTube channel “Soloviev Live”.
“What is the purpose of this hysteria – escalating the situation and, of course, provocative activity. This is part of the international reach of the provocation,” she said.
According to her, this provocation fell on the prepared long-term soil of the Ukrainian conflict, which is “actively run by the United States.”
Earlier, US President Joe Biden declared February 16 the day of the start of Russia's “invasion” of Ukraine. He named this date during negotiations with the leaders of Western countries, the European Union and NATO. He warned allies that an immediate attack would be preceded by a “barrage of missile strikes and cyberattacks.”
