Tomorrow, on October 5, the manned spacecraft Soyuz MS-19 will start from the Baikonur cosmodrome, on which the film crew of the first ever feature film in open space will go to the ISS.
On the eve of this event, kp.ru columnist Alexander Milkus tells how the flight of actress Yulia Peresild and director Klim Shipenko to the orbital station will take place. The crew commander, the only professional cosmonaut in the team, Anton Shkaplerov, who has three long-term flights to the ISS behind him, will operate the spacecraft.
However, the film crew will not have to mess around: they will perform the functions of flight engineers. The seat of flight engineer-1 to the left of the commander will be occupied by Klim Shipenko, and flight engineer-2 to the right will be occupied by Yulia Peresild.
As the cosmonaut explained, near Yulia's chair there is a valve for supplying oxygen to the descent vehicle, and to the left of Klim there is a valve for supplying oxygen to spacesuits in case of depressurization or fire, as well as air ventilation flaps. At the command of Shkaplerov, the actress and the director will regulate these valves.
