The blogger tested solid-state drives in modern games on a powerful gaming PC equipped with a GeForce RTX 3060 video card, a Ryzen 9 5900X processor and 32 GB of RAM.
The SSDs tested are M.2 NVMe PCIe 3.0 (Samsung 970 EVO Plus), M.2 NVMe PCIe 4.0 (Samsung 980 PRO) and SATA III SSD (Samsung 870 EVO).
The drives have been tested in games such as Cyberpunk 2077, Days Gone, Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Horizon Zero Dawn, Microsoft Flight Simulator, Hitman 3, and Red Dead Redemption 2.
The conclusion is that M.2 NVMe PCIe 4.0 (Samsung 980 PRO) is the fastest. But the difference between all three SSDs is extremely insignificant – 1-2 seconds, nothing more.
