Video hosting YouTube has blocked four videos of RT in English, reported on Friday, April 23rd. The removal of content and the issuance of a warning to the TV channel by the video hosting took place due to violations of the terms of use, including the rules regarding false medical information about the coronavirus, the Google press service told Interfax.

The company noted that for the sake of ensuring the safety of video hosting users, YouTube has clear rules that define in detail what content is allowed on the platform. These regulations apply in the same way around the world, regardless of the country in which it was created, emphasized in Google.

Publication of materials about the coronavirus

In particular, according to YouTube's rules on false medical information about coronavirus infection, the platform is prohibited from publishing content about COVID-19, which reports false information that contradicts official sources – local health authorities and the World Health Organization (WHO). “We are talking about content on the following topics: treatment, prevention, diagnosis, transmission of the virus, rules on self-isolation and social distancing, the existence of coronavirus infection COVID-19,” they said.

In addition, according to YouTube rules, after the first warning, the account will be suspended for one week, and if the second is received within 90 days, for two weeks. With three warnings in three months, the user's channel can be permanently blocked.
