Two of our girls won gold at the World Youth Beach Volleyball Championship, which was held in Thailand.
In the final of the World Championship, Ukrainian volleyball players beat the Spanish team.
Extraordinary news greeted the champions on their home soil and congratulated them on their historic victory. And the girls talked about the unexpected trials they faced because of the humid tropical climate.

Angelina Khmil and Tatiana Lazarenko, world beach volleyball champions, were greeted with applause and flowers at the Boryspil airport.
– I really wanted to show and snatch this victory. And we did it, – says the world champion in beach volleyball Angelina Khmil.
The sportsmen are only 18 years old. Inspired Angelina and Tatiana cannot believe that they were the first in a fierce competition.
On the other side of the grid there were very eminent rivals. But the Ukrainian women were not afraid. The situation was aggravated by the climate, because the championship was held in Thailand. The girls fainted under the scorching sun.
& # 8212; It was very stuffy and the sun pressed on us – the girls were very bad, they even called an ambulance, & # 8212; the world champion in beach volleyball Tatyana Lazarenko recalls.
In the group stage, Ukrainians won all matches. And then the girls literally broke up couples from Italy, Russia and Switzerland. The dramatic and tense finale was held with a duet from Spain.
The coach of the champions says that before he worked only with men. So that the girls would listen to his advice, I tried to be very scrupulous.
The mentor says that this victory might not have happened if it were not for the very high-quality preparation before the start of the competition. Two weeks before departure, the girls spent on the courts of the only beach sports center in Ukraine.
& # 8212; I want to thank Konstantin Stogniy, who invested with the team, involving people in this. I invested in such a beautiful property as Seth. This is an ultra-modern center. Even in Europe there are no such stadiums, & # 8212; says Andrey Lopushansky.
The athletes were brought home two medals at once: bronze for U-19 and gold for U-21. Due to the coronavirus epidemic, the championships were held simultaneously.
