President Volodymyr Zelensky called on the former coach of the Ukrainian national team Andriy Shevchenko to return to Ukraine after his dismissal from the Italian football club Genoa.
The head of state announced this on his official page in Telegram.
Volodymyr Zelensky supported Andriy Shevchenko after leaving the post of coach and said that not only Ukraine, but the whole of Europe knows what kind of game a team led by a Ukrainian is capable of.
– Therefore, let it be only “the first club pancake lumpy” at the beginning of a great career as a great coach. We believe that you will not break, we know that you will become even better,” the President said.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that Andriy Shevchenko is loved the most in Ukraine.
“Therefore, return to work at home,” the Head of State concluded.
On the eve it became known that the former head of the coaching staff of the Ukrainian national team Andriy Shevchenko was dismissed from the post of head coach of the Italian football club Genoa.
The Ukrainian headed the Italian club in November 2021.
Prior to that, Andriy Shevchenko served as the head coach of the Ukrainian national football team from 2016 to 2021. Under his leadership, the national team got into the top eight teams during the Euro 2020 championship.
At the moment, the Ukrainian national football team is headed by Oleksandr Petrakov.
