Yekhanurov named regions that may secede from Russia

Can Buryatia and Yakutia separate from the Russian Federation: Yekhanurov spoke about his “small homeland”.

The collapse of the Russian Federation

The most “promising” in terms of separating from Moscow are Yakutia, Buryatia and Tuva.

This opinion was expressed in an interview with Ukrainer by the former Prime Minister of Ukraine (2005–2006), Minister of Defense of Ukraine (2007–2009) Yuriy Yekhanurov.

Yekhanurov was reminded of his own words that the threat of Russian invasion will remain until the Russian Federation is dismantled. He confirmed that he still thinks so.

The former prime minister named the regions of the Russian Federation that could theoretically separate from Moscow.

“The most promising regions are Yakutia , a huge country with enormous wealth; Buryatia , which has a border with friendly Mongolia; Tuva , from which Stalin took away statehood in 1944; Tatarstan, a rich country in the future, but they have no access to the borders, and there are problems there. It's only a matter of time,” he listed.

At the same time, Yekhanurov admits that he does not yet see any liberation movement among these peoples.

The former prime minister was also asked how his own Ukrainian identity was formed. After all, as is well known, Yekhanurov was born in Yakutia, grew up in Buryatia, and moved to Ukraine at the age of 15.

“I simply lived in a Ukrainian environment all the time. In the dormitory on Melnikov Street, there were guys from all over Ukraine. And we all lived well. And the Ukrainian language was in the dormitory,” he said.

Yekhanurov notes that he has never encountered any problems in Ukraine because of his ethnicity.

Earlier, Yuriy Yekhanurov told how they sold military equipment and made Donbass “clean” of military units.
