Yandex announced the creation of a fund to support organizations that are engaged in the development of education in the IT sphere. RBC was informed about this in the press service of the company.
The fund will be called the Fund of Yandex co-founder Ilya Segalovich, they indicated there.
“With the help of grants, he [the foundation] will support organizations and public initiatives that are engaged in quality and affordable education. In addition, the fund will continue to develop free educational projects of Yandex, – the message says.
Among the goals of the foundation, the company named the need to make IT and mathematics education accessible, to support teachers and representatives of the professional community, as well as to help projects “strengthening the pursuit of knowledge, science and culture”.
Yandex specified that 250 million rubles will be allocated for grants in 2022. They will be distributed by a council of experts. The company will announce other details of the grant programs on November 10.
The creation of the fund, noted in Yandex, is timed to the birthday of Ilya Segalovich. He is the creator of the first version of the Yandex search engine and the author of the word Yandex.
