Olympic champion in figure skating Alexei Yagudin compared the work of Evgenia Medvedeva with Canadian coach Brian Orser and domestic specialist Eteri Tutberidze. His words are quoted by “Sport-Express”.
Yagudin considered that in Canada Medvedeva had a completely different, gentle training process. “I can't say that Orser ruined Zhenya. But the Russian person is a romantic at heart. And romanticism sometimes adds laziness. We need strict rules. Eteri was and remains the person who will charge Zhenya, ”he said. The skater added that the tandem of Tutberidze and Medvedeva was fruitful before, so he must bring results now.
Medvedeva announced her decision to return to the Tutberidze group on September 16. The skater thanked Orser for the work done and understanding.
Medvedeva left Tutberidze for Orser in the summer of 2018 after losing to Zagitova in the individual tournament of the Olympics in Pyeongchang. In addition to the silver medal of the 2018 Games, under the leadership of Tutberidze, Medvedeva twice won the World, European and Grand Prix finals.
