It became known that Xiaomi intends to add the ability to expand RAM to its smartphones. Confirmation of this was found in the MIUI firmware code.
An enthusiast under the nickname @kacskrz, whose activities are related to testing and translating the MIUI shell, found in it a mention of an interesting and yet unannounced “Memory extension” function, which means “Memory expansion” in Russian. The description indicated that this function is intended to use part of the drive as RAM.
Moreover, the enthusiast not only found an innovation, he also managed to activate it on his device. So, he tried to increase the RAM by 1 GB, but noted that the attempt was unsuccessful. It is currently unknown when exactly Xiaomi is announcing the new option. It is assumed that they will add it to MIUI 13.
