Xiaomi and Samsung took leading positions in the smartphone market in Russia. This is reported in a report published on the website of the agency Counterpoint Research.
The report says that the share of Xiaomi in the fourth quarter of 2020 in the Russian market was 31 percent. For comparison, exactly a year ago the company's share was 19.2 percent. The second and third places were taken by Samsung and Apple, which occupied 27 and 15.5 percent of the market, respectively. Below are the Chinese brands Huawei and Realme.
Analysts noted that Xiaomi led the Russian market despite the fact that in the fourth quarter of the year, total smartphone sales in the country fell by 11 percent. The report says that due to the fact that at the end of 2020 Russia faced the second wave of coronavirus, the share of online sales, on the contrary, increased from 34 to 35 percent. According to experts, Xiaomi, Samsung and Apple have taken advantage of this.
Experts noted that the growth in sales of smartphones on the Internet in the fourth quarter was triggered by the emergence of interesting models for consumers. In particular, the devices of the series iPhone 12, Honor 30 and Honor 30S, Xiaomi Mi 10T, Xiaomi Redmi Note 9, Redmi 9 and Redmi 9A were noted.
According to the report for the fourth quarter, M.Video-Eldorado was the leader in the online sales market with a 35.1 percent share. The second and third places were occupied by the Svyaznoy and MTS chain stores, which accounted for 16.3 and 14.4 percent, respectively. Below are “Citylink”, “Megafon” and “Beeline”.
Earlier, analysts from the M.Video-Eldorado group compiled a list of the most popular 5G smartphones in Russia. The most popular was the iPhone 12, the second and third positions were occupied by the iPhone 12 Pro Max and Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra. The company said that the share of phones with 5G support was 2.5 percent in unit sales and 8 percent in money.
