Recently it became known that Xiaomi has overtaken Samsung in the global smartphone market. Now sources are writing about another success of the company – in the segment of 5G devices.

According to analysts at Strategy Analytics, Xiaomi became the market leader in 5G Android smartphones in the second quarter of 2021. The company's share reached 26%.

A total of 95 million 5G Android smartphones were shipped worldwide over the specified period. Xiaomi accounted for 24 million. And in the last nine quarters, the company has shipped only 70 million 5G smartphones. It steps in step with the South Korean giant Samsung, which has 77 million shipments in the same time.

Surprisingly, Huawei remains the leader in total 5G smartphone shipments so far with 95 million in the past nine quarters. However, the company is now rapidly losing ground due to US sanctions.
