Xiaomi did not bundle its new flagships with a charging adapter. Representatives of the company announced this at the presentation of smartphones of the Mi 11 series on December 28, the Lenta.ru correspondent reports.
The company said in a statement that the Mi 11 flagship devices will come with a simplified kit that will lack the charging adapter. In this regard, the box with the device will be smaller than before. Xiaomi attributed this decision to environmental concerns. At the same time, earlier the Chinese corporation made fun of Apple, which announced in the fall that it would remove the adapter from the box with the iPhone. Lei Jun, the founder of Xiaomi, previously announced the refusal of the free accessory in the set of the following flagships in their social networks.
Xiaomi said that the first customers to pre-order the flagship smartphone will receive the adapter for free. The power of the charger will be 55 watts.
In October, Apple announced that it would not bundle smartphones – both new and previously released – with a free charging adapter and wired headphones. Top managers of the company announced at the presentation of the iPhone 12 that this decision is due to concern for the environment. According to the corporation, due to the reduction in the size of the box with the smartphone, more devices can be transferred at one time, which reduces the carbon footprint left from each gadget.
In mid-December, information appeared that Huawei and Samsung would also refuse a free adapter in their own gadgets. LG presented a simplified set of its smartphones in October.
